For 14 years, Dr. Purdy served as a dedicated physician in the US Army, delivering exceptional care to military personnel undergoing rigorous training and deployments. Her invaluable experience included providing medical assistance to soldiers on post, delivering numerous babies, and overseeing the healthcare of special operations combat medics deployed to Africa. During her time as a Battalion Surgeon, she embraced telemedicine to enhance the care of soldiers, and later, as a med/peds hospitalist at Fort Campbell, Kentucky Army Hospital, she played a pivotal role in establishing the Army’s expansive telemedicine networks. This expertise eventually extended to numerous private virtual health companies, where she replicated her success.
Dr. Purdy’s commitment to equitable access to quality healthcare for all Americans became her driving force upon leaving the military. Her immersion in the digital healthcare industry led her to become the first full-time telemedicine physician and Medical Director for MDLIVE, where she personally treated over 20,000 virtual patients. Her impactful work extended to providing virtual treatment to patients affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and those in the Ukraine war zone.
